10 Ways To Save Your Hair From the Summer Humidity!

June 12, 2021 · Beauty

If you have spent any time in the South in the summer months, then you know we have a lot of humidity! I am an 80s girl, so I love my big hair but not big frizzy hair! Humidity can turn a good hair day quickly into a really bad hair day!

We do not want to always wear our hair up in a ponytail when it is hot and humid do, we? It would be nice to be able to style it and wear it down, and have it stay the way you styled it!

What are some ways that we can help to combat high humidity and still have a good hair day?

One of the best ways we can start with is to stay hydrated! I know we get tired of hearing this, but it is so true, drink your water and stay hydrated! Dehydrated hair is brittle which can look frizzy. Drinking water helps to circulate proteins to the hair cuticles and follicles and will improve hair health! Do not help summer humidity out by being dehydrated and having dry brittle hair, drink your water daily. Your hair will thank you!

Before we talk about products that can help with summer humidity, have you ever tried giving your hair a final rinse in cool water? Why should you do this? It closes the cuticle and pores on the scalp and helps to add shine. Cool water also helps the hair to lie down/smooth, warm water will make the hair frizzier. Give it a try and let me know if it helps!

Prep

Great hair starts with a great shampoo! Monat has a smoothing shampoo that helps to fight frizz, Smoothing shampoo, and conditioner. It is formulated to gently cleanse and nourish while smoothing and softening the hair cuticle to reduce frizz. Formulated with REJUVENIQE™ and infused with an exclusive blend of amino acids for total frizz control, Smoothing Shampoo takes charge to reduce dry static fly-away, de-frizz, and resist humidity for a smoother, sleeker, silkier look.

After you shampoo then I would recommend using a treatment called Frizz Fix Smoothing Hair Primer. This is a leave-in pre-styling treatment that helps control frizz, and defends against humidity, for long-lasting definition, shine, and smoothness. This will help your style last 2x longer, safe for color-treated hair, for all hair textures and types of frizz!

Styling

The next step is going to depend on what type of hair you have, straight or curly. Do you use heat or let it air dry?

Let’s start with curly hair. If you do not use heat on your hair, I would recommend using our Air-Dry Cream or Curl Defining Cream. Our Curl Defining Cream can be used for either heat or air-dried hair.

Air Dry Cream helps to tame, soften, and style your hair without the need for heat styling. It is great because it provides texture and frizz-free results, shine, and silky-smooth softness. Perfect for all hair types!

Curl defining Cream defines and conditions all curl types, for frizz-free long-lasting, natural-looking, manageable tresses. This product will not weigh your hair down and is great for all types of lengths of naturally curly hair. You can either diffuse with a hairdryer or air dry.

If you have straight or wavy hair and use heat to style your hair, I would use our Blow Out Cream. This is my ultimate favorite product!

Blow Out Cream will prolong the life of your blow-dry! It has low-to-medium heat protection in it. It also provides a silicone-like performance without silicone build-up because our products do not use silicone! Helps to reduce your blow-dry time, provides a smooth, silky, and sleek look to your style. It is great for all hair types!

Finish

Now we have the base to help with the summer humidity all we need is the finishing touches! Some people do not use hairspray and you should be good to go if you do not but if you do we have some great ones that help with hold and fight humidity.

If you have thick hair and it has a tendency to have flyway’s that you want to tame our REJUVENIQE™ Oil Intensive is perfect for that! 1-2 drops in the palm of your hand and rub them together and pull through your hair and ends.

We have two hairsprays, but our Strong Flex-hold Hairspray is designed for long-lasting anti-humidity protection. Locks in natural style while locking out frizz and humidity. One-click spray adjustment offers a choice between a firm or flexible hold. Ideal for any hair type.

Everyone’s hair is different so I like to do personalized consultation to make sure we have the products that will work best for you. If you would like a complimentary consultation click here.
