We are given one skin and we need to take care of it. Yes, we do shed skin cells but when we do damage to it, it cannot always be undone. I do not know how many times as a teenager I would sleep with my makeup on if I could tell myself then what I know now!
The sooner we take care of our skin the better it will look for years to come. We all want to look as young as we can for as long as we can, at least those of us that can admit to it! It is never too late to start taking better care of yourself and your skin!
Why should we remove our makeup before we go to bed every night? There are so many reasons but let us dive into a few of the important ones!
Premature Aging
If you do not remove your makeup it can lead to a collagen breakdown which can lead to wrinkles. If collagen is not produced properly your skin will dry out leading to wrinkles and deepening the ones that you already have. It can cause dryness, flakiness, and unevenness. What else can dryness mean? Loss of elasticity, what does that equal? You guessed it! Wrinkles!
Uneven Skin Tone
Have you ever looked at your skin or someone that you knew and thought their skin tone looked uneven? Not removing your makeup can make your skin tone even worse. Your skin regenerates at night and when it is covered up by makeup it cannot do this and will lead to dull, dry, uneven skin.
Clogged Pores
We have all fallen asleep with our makeup on before and what has happened as a result almost immediately? You are blessed with a blemish! Seldom fails, since sleeping with makeup on will clog your pores because it interrupts the cells regenerating and they get blocked.
Eye Irritation
Not removing your eye makeup is never good for your eyes or your lashes! It can cause eye irritation, red, puffy, and swollen eyes. You know the look; it looks like you stayed up late and did not get much sleep! Leaving mascara on can lead to drying and breaking your lashes. We all love our long and beautiful eyelashes, so please take care of them by taking off your makeup! Have you ever had a sty on your eye? They are awful and so irritating; they can sometimes be caused by not removing your eye makeup.
Try to get in a routine, it is much easier not to take off your makeup every night, but your skin will thank you if you start to take care of it. Your skin will start to look smoother, softer, more vibrant, not to mention younger!
My ultimate favorite product for removing my makeup has been Monat’s makeup vanishing balm. A little of this balm will literally melt your makeup off. It is infused with their Rejuveniqe S. It does not feel oily, and your skin will feel so soft and smooth after you use it. I follow up with the Be Gentle Cleanser.
