Who doesn’t like to find a new way to clean? Especially when it makes it easier and the results better! I am sharing my 3 favorite ways to use Dawn Powerwash. And none of them include using it to clean your dishes!
I am all for finding new and faster ways to clean around the house. Well, I started to notice how well Dawn Powerwash was working on our dishes so I thought I could use this for other things! I was right and am still finding ways to use it. It’s like a magic spray! Lol! Speaking of cleaning, I did a blog post a while ago about the 5 most forgotten areas in your home. You can read that here.

1. Clean Your Rings
I started to use this method to clean my rings after we moved from SC to FL. I threw out my jewelry chemicals and decided that I really didn’t want to use those chemicals anymore. This method is quick, and it makes your rings shine so much more than those jewelry chemicals!
You only need 4 things:
- A small bowl from your kitchen
- Warm water
- Dawn Powerwash
- Mascara Brush (I bought mine from Amazon and will link them below)
The process is simple:
- Spray one squirt of Dawn Powerwash in your bowl, then fill it with warm water.
- Give each ring a squirt of Dawn Powerwash before placing them in the water.
- Let them soak for about 15 minutes.
- Scrub each ring gently with a mascara brush. I use these because they have small bristles and can get into all the nooks and crannies.
- Rinse with clean water and dry.
2. Clean Your Bathroom
This one has been a game-changer for me! I have started to use Dawn Powerwash to clean our bathrooms the tile, Corian, and Granite. And they have never been so shiny! According to their website, the product is safe for use on Stainless Steel, glass, plastic, light and dark Granite, Porcelain Enamel, Corian solid surface & Quartz. However, like traditional dish soap, Dawn Powerwash Dish spray is not recommended for cast iron cookware.
Powerwash can be used on a dry surface, so you can spray it on and use a sponge to scrub or wipe it down, then rinse it off. A little goes a long way with Dawn Powerwash. If you spray too much you will be rinsing for a while. This is a mistake I have made in the past. It doesn’t leave any residue, but you will have suds that you will need to rinse off.
3. Clean Your Hairbrushes
We should wash our hairbrushes and combs about every 2 weeks to once a month. They collect oil, dirt, dust, styling products, and skin cells. More on this subject is coming!
Dawn Powerwash works great to break down all that buildup on your bushes and combs. The procedure is like cleaning your rings.
What you will need:
- Either your bathroom or kitchen sink. Or you can use a large bowl.
- Warm water
- Dawn Powerwash
- Scissors or hairbrush cleaning tool (Yes, they make them! I have linked some below.)
- Clean towels
The process:
- Remove hair from your brushes and combs. You can use scissors to cut the hair if you are having a difficult time removing it.
- Spray one squirt of Dawn Powerwash in the sink or bowl and fill with warm water.
- Give each brush or comb a squirt of Dawn Powerwash before placing them in the water.
- Let them soak for about 15 minutes.
- Scrub with your hairbrush cleaning tool or another cleaning brush.
- Rinse with clean warm water.
- Set on a clean towel and allow to dry.
Bonus Idea!
This is one idea that has not been tested by me yet but is on my list! It is recommended by Dawn Powerwash as a proven method of cleaning! You can read more about their recommendation here.
You can use Dawn Powerwash to remove stains from your laundry. They recommend using it as a pre- and post-spot treatment.
Recommendations on when to use it for laundry stains
- Pretreatment option for stains
- Stain removal in a pinch
- Stain treatment before loading your laundry
- Handwashing soap spray for small loads.
Always spot-test with a small drop in a less visible area before using. They do not recommend using it with delicate fabrics like silk. I can’t wait to try this!
Have you tried using Dawn Powerwash for anything other than dishes before? Which one of these ideas do you think you are going to give a try? Please share in the comments below!
