I keep hearing my friends talk about this big mouse that lives in Orlando. So, when my mom and dad told me that I was going on my first trip to Orlando I got super excited! I started to plan my first meeting with this mouse called Mickey. Let’s just say my Orlando trip didn’t go as planned…
Why do our pawrents disappoint us? When I hear about a trip I instantly think of fun. Don’t you? My pawrents told me that they are making it up to me with a trip to Miami and to see the Keys. Whatever that means?! I was looking forward to this “happiest place on earth”.

Disappointment #1
I first started to get suspicious when after two hours of driving I saw the sign for Disney World, and we kept going. But dad can be kind of frugal sometimes, so I thought maybe he didn’t want to spend the money to stay at one of their resorts.
We drove 20 minutes past Disney World, weird huh? Our hotel was pretty nice. They even greeted me at the front counter. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t have my own room. I mean it is vacation. There was only one bed and I claimed it. Mom and dad can share the couch. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way.

Disappointment #2
After we got settled in and my mom unpacked my bag we decided to go out for dinner. My mom made a rude comment about me packing more things than her. My mom even packed my new fresh food in the cooler. If you missed that blog post, Why I Stopped Eating Kibble. You can read that here. But anyway, I thought we were going to have dinner with Mickey. I heard my friends talking about special dinners they have at Disney World.
Turns out mom and dad were just going to get their typical Friday night pizza. I was happy though because they typically leave me home alone, but they took me this time! That was fun going to the restaurant with them. Dad wouldn’t share his pizza with me. At home, he always shares his late-night snacks. He murmured something about not telling mom about that.
It quickly became clear to me that I wasn’t going to be having dinner with Mickey anytime soon. What a disappointment that was. I still had hope for the next morning that we were going to go and have my picture taken with him.

The Final Disappointment
I had heard my pawrents talking about going to a conference. But I thought they were referring to a Disney World conference where I would be meeting Mickey Mouse. The conference they were referring to was in a room full of people and none of them was a mouse.
For my first trip to Orlando, I got to sit with my pawrents for 2 ½ days listening to people talk. This was not my idea of fun. People kept telling my mom how cute I was, I kept getting mistaken for a girl. I prefer to be called handsome. And I am a boy…
Mom and dad told me that I was good on our first trip, so they promised our next one is going to be fun. No sitting in chairs the entire time. I will keep you posted on that promise!

Mickey, if you are out there, send help! I was really looking forward to meeting you and my trip to Orlando did not go as planned. I would love to have my picture taken with you. That is cruel and unusual punishment! You poor HANDSOME boy! Shame on your pawrents! Maybe they’ll make it right?
Thank you, Holly! They say they are going to make it up to me. I was really disappointed!
